Atlas Sound – 'Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel' review
Atlas Sound is actually Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox making washy, lo-fi electronica at home. Think you’ve heard it all before? Actually, you probably have: scratchy samples of kids telling ghost stories? Check. Slowly rumbling walls of shoegaze guitars? Yup. Breathy singing about nothing in particular? It’s all here. But what Let the Blind… lacks in originality it makes up for in atmosphere and musicianship, and its 50-minute running time is artfully navigated, with peaks and troughs in all the right places. Sure, it’s no Boards of Canada, or even Maps, but judged against itself it’s a pretty satisfying slab of sound.
