Calvin Harris – 'I Created Disco' review

Published on

From the creator of Acceptable In The 80s comes a whole album of slightly boorish and very self-conscious Mylo pastiches. Aside from the catchier-than-MSRA single and the brilliantly odd, Jarvis-fronts-Kraftwerk computer lullaby of Electro Man, there’s little to love here.

The first half is solely concerned with clarifying how hip Harris is (Merrymaking…, The Industry), while the second is a succession of kooky, incongruent samples over repetitive bedroom electro. There’s talent here for sure, but Harris would do better to stop showing off and let his music do the talking.
