Clone Quartet – 'Well-Oiled Machine' review

Published on

The word “quartet” in a band name always suggests a degree of rigour to the music being made, which is probably 10% of the reason why Well-Oiled Machine is such a disappointing listen. Unfortunately, the other ninety is squarely down to how the record actually sounds. Bashing through the grungier end of nu-rave with the predictability that only a band called “clone” could muster, it’s hard work finding a melody or lyric to hang your hat on anywhere here. This sort of dross makes The Automatic look brimful of charisma.
