Don Cash – 'II' review
When it works, ‘II’ is great. A hybrid of b-boy stylings and squelchy electrofunk, its best tracks recall everyone on the direct line from 80s-era Beasties and KRS One, through Beats International to current-incarnation Beck and LCD Soundsystem. Unfortunately, though, about half of it is tacky PlayStation music underneath boring MC clichés (“Who rocks the party? We rock the party” etc).
Too inconsistent to justify its hour running time, the solution is simple – forget the album, download the best bits and ditch the rest.
