Future Of The Left – 'Curses' review
On paper, this record looks pretty fun. An LP written by a group proclaiming to be the Future of the Left, featuring track titles like Fuck The Countryside Alliance and songs about Tories and dead babies, should really be an agreeable blast of Marxist aggression sung by ageing, belligerent punks. Instead, Curses is no more than Lost Prophets covering the over-earnest end of early Manics in excruciating mid-Atlantic accents. Marvel at this record’s bluster, but don’t let it anywhere near your stereo.
