Rumblestrips – 'Girls And Weather' review
To open a record with the line “I ain’t got no soul” requires balls, especially when that record is so desperately shooting for the young-soul-rebel moves of Dexys but so obviously scoring in the goal marked “Kooks with horns”. And balls is exactly what’s missing here. Sure, a great album needn’t necessarily be bleeding edge, but in our era of free downloads, actual money should really buy something more arresting than this lyrical cliché to the sound of honky ska-lite.3/10
