The KBC – 'On The Beat' review
Points for effort here, but an equal number of minus marks for lack of imagination. Save for the pleasing Roses pastiche of Busy Hands and the dreamy Weatherall-esque soundscape of Day of Disillusion, On The Beat is a collection of lifeless four-to-the-floor jams where someone’s pushed the button marked indie-rave and hoped for the best.
This record clearly aspires to The Rapture/LCD Soundsystem’s electro-punk crossover, but anyone who remembers The Music will know that any half-arsed attempt at that makes for a sorry listen.
