The Needles – 'In Search Of The Needles' review

Published on

The title of The Needles’ debut long-player suggests a journey of discovery, and in very crude terms, that’s exactly what it is. The record begins with the same derivative babybabydoinalright! blues-rock bollocks that littered Primal Scream’s latest effort, and finishes with a trio of songs as intelligent, captivating and listenable as you’ll hear all year.

Over the course of this mutation we’re treated to the odd moment of likeable Byrdsian chime nestling amongst more sub-Stooges nonsense, but the only stuff worth listening to in this so-called search is tucked away at the end, offering a satisfying conclusion to dreary pursuit.
