The Scare – 'Chivalry' review
If you sing in curious Australi-American accents and pinch riffs off Jack White and the MC5, you’d better do with it with some gusto or you’ll just end up sounding a bit tepid. Or worse, like Jet. This would be sage advice to offer The Scare, as their debut effort attempts to ape Nick Cave at his most smouldering. Occasionally they flicker with the bloodcurdling thrill of their fellow countryman, but unfortunately the majority of Chivalry is pretty tired, bog-standard rawk.5/10
